Developers are trying to tempt first time buyers into the massive St Petersfield scheme in Ashton under Lyne.
The first living spaces win the mixed use development go on sale next month with a one-bed flat being offered at £99,950. And while buyers will have to stump up a £500 reservation fee they will be able to pay the 5 percent deposit in monthly instalments.
Ask Life head of Sales Sian Pitt said: “many first time buyers find it difficult to afford the 5% deposit in one lump sum so we are allowing purchasers, if they wish to do so, to pay this as a monthly sum, which on an apartment under £100,000 works out at around £350 a month. This is a lot more manageable for people, particularly those who might be still living at home, and at the same time prepares them for paying a mortgage!”
The 72 one and two bedroom apartments, known as Liberty, are part of the £42m new ‘urban quarter’ being developed in the town centre by Ask Life parent company Ask Developments. And the Manchester based firm will be hoping that this scheme attracts the same amount of interest as a similar launch in Urmston earlier in the year which sold out in two hours and saw people queuing overnight.
Still, there have been several interest rate rises since then and it’s a slower market and Ask Life are banking on location and fit-out to attract buyers.
Duncan Bowman, Director of Ask Life said: Our residential scheme complements the overall St Petersfield perfectly and we want to help create a new district that people will be proud to live and work in.
“The Liberty at St Petersfield apartments will benefit from the excellent location and stunning landscaping. As with all Ask Life schemes, they will be of a very high standard but within a price-range that the majority, not the few can afford.”
You can scrutinise the floor plans and prices for two days ahead of sales starting on Saturday, October 13.
