Another important dimension to Ask Developments' major St Petersfield mixed-use development in Ashton is revealed this week as the first phase of Ask Life's Liberty at St Petersfield residential scheme of 72 one- and two-bedroom apartments goes on sale this weekend with residents set to move in by December 2008.

Plans for a further 92 apartments to follow are now in the pipeline.

The apartments form an integral part of the £42m St Petersfield urban quarter, being developed by Ask Life's parent company, Ask Developments.

With prices starting at £99,950 for a one-bed apartment, Liberty on Bentick Street in the thriving town is expected to attract first-time buyers with it's sales proposition which allows the purchaser to pay the deposit in monthly instalments throughout the construction period.

St Petersfield was formally launched in May by Ashtonian Sir Geoff Hurst MBE.

The first phase of the scheme was named Building of the Year by Ashton-under-Lyne Civic Society, which praised it for its design and role in helping to regenerate the area.

It is already home to Pennine Care NHS Trust's 26,000 sq ft regional headquarters. Work will soon start on an £11m, 40,000 sq ft primary care centre for Tameside and Glossop PCT.

A multi-million pound public realm, including water feature and sculpture was completed in March.

St Petersfield is being delivered through a partnership between Tameside Council, Ask Developments, Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) and English Partnerships.

On completion it will provide 280,000 sq ft of office space which together with retail and leisure amenities totals 400,000 sq ft, and has the capacity to sustain almost 2,000 jobs.

Duncan Bowman, director of Ask Life said: "St Petersfield is already improving the area's appeal as a business investment location and is playing a significant role in the regeneration of the area. The new apartments will mean that it will become a district that people can be proud to live in as well as work in."
